Kuching, TVRI World - Generative AI dominated the discussion at the 2023 Global News Forum held in Kuching, Malaysia on July 10-12. The Forum was attended by 120 delegates from 52 countries of the European Broadcasting Union (EBU), the Arab Broadcasting Union (ASBU), and the African Broadcasting Union (AUB), including delegates from the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU) members. With the theme AI, Leading Change and Inspiring a Greener Future, the conference focussed on the key issues facing the news industry. Media professionals from around the world participated in the conclave to discuss and debate some of the most significant issues for newsrooms in 2023 and the biggest challenges facing the planet.
Speaking at the 2023 Global News Forum, TVRI delegate Ahmad Zakaria said, TVRI as Indonesia’s National Public Broadcaster, is building a regional network to reach out to international audiences. In 2021, TVRI launched two digital channels; TVRI Sport, a channel dedicated to sports content, and TVRI World, an English-language channel catered for domestic and international audiences. Through its newly launched digital channel-TVRI World, TVRI is building a regional network to reach out to international audiences. Besides expanding co-operations with other international broadcasters, as an active member of the ABU, TVRI World makes use of content available through various ABU platforms such as Asiavision, and ABU Sports and Entertainment Network.
Earlier this year, TVRI World started to launch a program titled YOUR WORLD, a 30-minute weekly show having all of its content entirely sourced from the ABU-Asiavision content exchange platform.
Global news executives also shared their perspectives and provided valuable observations regarding the future of artificial intelligence in news organisations. They discussed essential factors for driving change, including the significance of creating engaging content that motivates people to take action.
