Jakarta, TVRI World - In a mesmerizing display of vocal talent and heartfelt emotion, Indonesian singer Cakra Khan captivated the judges and audience on America's Got Talent 2023, securing his spot in the next round of the prestigious competition. Known for his hit song "Kekasih Bayangan," Cakra's journey to AGT was both unexpected and poignant.
Cakra Khan's story of being scouted for the show unfolded during an online interview with TVRI World's "STARTING POINT" program. The singer shared that he initially received a message on his Instagram account from a member of the AGT team towards the end of the previous year. Being inactive on social media, Cakra didn't respond immediately. However, the casting producer persisted and reached out to his manager via email. Skeptical about the legitimacy of the offer, Cakra Khan and his team conducted thorough research and confirmed the opportunity's authenticity.
The decision to participate in the international competition was not taken lightly. Cakra's primary motivation came from his late father, who had been a pillar of support throughout his career. Encouraging him to explore opportunities beyond Indonesia, Cakra's father's advice resonated profoundly with him.
"Maybe this is a moment to honor my dad," he shared, as he decided to embrace the challenge and make his late father proud.
In the first audition, Cakra Khan delivered a memorable performance, initially singing "Make It Rain." However, it was his unique voice and emotional connection that impressed the judges, namely Simon Cowell, Heidi Klum, Sofia Vergara, and Howie Mandel. Simon Cowell, the seasoned judge, requested Cakra to showcase another song. The Indonesian singer gracefully obliged, captivating everyone with his rendition of "No Woman No Cry." The result was nothing short of awe-inspiring, earning him a standing ovation from both the judges and the audience.
Cakra Khan's talent and touching tribute to his father left an indelible mark on the AGT stage, resulting in a unanimous "Yes" from the judges, catapulting him to the next round of the competition.
